Right across from one of the wealthiest shopping centers in Tokyo, Japan, there is a small but quite stylish frozen yogurt shop known as Golden Spoon Frozen Yogurt.

Today was certainly not the first time I’ve been to this place, but since I created this blog (just yesterday), I’ve decided to make use of it and write a review.

Apparently, after reading the review off the official website, Golden Spoon was a concept originally created in Southern California, 1982. Apparently this stuff is non-fat and low calorie, but after finishing a small sized cup of this stuff, I would have to say that the amount of sugar or sugar-substitutes in what I ordered can’t possibly be as healthy as Golden Spoon’s websites and flyers are claiming it to be. I find it a bit sketchy that neither the official website nor the flyers I got from the store have nutrition facts on any of their products.

However, if you are not really all that concerned about health, I would totally recommend this place. The flavor(s) I get each time enrapture my taste buds and create some sort of party in my mouth (lol). (at the beginning, anyway. after eating the entire small sized frozen yogurt, it got a little bit too sweet for me. or maybe i’m just getting old, ‘cuz i remember last summer, i still liked things that were really, really sweet. or maybe i just got picky like goldilocks and can’t have anything that is not “just right.”)

I’ve actually gotten Old Fashioned Vanilla each time I went, along with another flavor. For the last few times it was always Raspberry Cheesecake, but today I got Double Vanilla just to see what it was like. Raspberry Cheesecake + Old Fashioned Vanilla is a better combo, but if you’re a major vanilla fan like I am, you probably wouldn’t mind the Double Vanilla combination too much either. My friend is a chocolate lover, and last time she got Chocolate Mocha, I believe, and she loved it. I tried it out, too, I think I remember it not being too bad–and that means a lot, coming from me, because I am normally not a big chocolate fan (don’t get me wrong–I love chocolate itself–just not chocolate flavored things. It has something to do with the texture.).

I highly recommend this place. Most frozen yogurt places in America are a bit sour, which I don’t mind either–they just taste different. However, Golden Spoon is a place where they make sure their yogurt tastes almost like ice-cream (in terms of sweet-ness. however, the texture of ice-cream is still thicker.), and yet is (supposedly) “healthy” and “low-calorie” (although that can’t be confirmed at the moment, because they don’t have nutrition facts on their website).

They also have To Go Bags (in Japan) that can keep the yogurt good for a span of two hours, so if you wanted to buy it for an ice-cream/yogurt-loving friend you were going to visit, this place is perfect.

And just like frozen yogurt shops in America, Golden Spoon offers toppings you can add to your yogurt.

And last but not least, in order to match their name, their spoons are “golden” (or at least as close to the color gold as you can color onto a plastic spoon).

===
Random Thoughts:
Damn. I had no idea that writing a review of a place could take up so much time. No wonder people get paid to do this.

Pictures later. Too lazy to upload them now, and in actuality, I didn’t take any yet. But I will! This gives me an excuse to buy some more frozen yogurt.

Tangent:
Speaking of yogurt, I just thought of ice-cream. There is this really good ice cream they sell in convenience stores in Japan (I’ve only seen them at LAWSON so far, but I think other places may carry it as well), and it’s only 80 calories, and the texture is *real* ice-cream, not frozen yogurt texture. It’s sooo wonderfully absolutely amazing. The only thing is that there is only a total of four flavors: Vanilla, Chocolate, Matcha (Green Tea), and some Rum Raison or something like that. All flavors are around the same amount of calories / other nutrition: this includes fiber, protein, etc. I don’t have the thing with me right now, so I’ll put up a photo of it later when I go buy it, but I think (and I have bought this so many times I can pretty much recall from memory) it is around 6.0g of both protein and fiber; quite high for ice cream. The explanation is that it is made from soy milk instead of regular milk.

And apparently a lot of people blog about life, politics, etc. too here.

I really like wordpress’ interface, so I decided to give it a try.

However, I don’t know how much time I will actually have to update. And it highly depends on whether or not I feel like updating.

Well, either way. Welcome to my blog. :)
